Bathroom Renovations 101: Running New Pipes

When I decided to add a pedestal sink and claw foot tub to my bathroom, I had no idea how much new plumbing I had to run. Since I had never run pipes before, I wasn't sure how to do it properly. I did a lot of research before I started so that I could be sure that I was doing it right. As I was researching, I knew that it would be helpful to have all of the information I found in one place. That was the inspiration for this site. I hope that the plumbing resources help you with your next home improvement project.

What Can You Do To Protect Your Business's Plumbing System?

Commercial plumbing is far more complex than residential plumber. When it is in disrepair, who it impacts is far greater than a few people in a home. Your customers and employees could be forced to deal with the consequences of poorly managed plumbing. Therefore, it is important to take the proper steps to maintain your system.

Be Alert for Plumbing Issues

Before your commercial plumbing system experiences a complete shutdown, there will likely be signs warning you of what is to come. It is imperative that you stay alert and recognize those signs when they occur.

For instance, decreased water pressure is often a sign of a leak in the plumbing system. It could also be a sign that there is a blockage in the pipes. If the water is not hot enough, it could mean that the hot water heater is failing or in need of draining.

Educate your employees on the signs to look for and take action as soon as there is a reported issue.

Update Your Fixtures

Older toilets are not just an eyesore, but they can be a drain on your budget. Older toilets are far less efficient and can result in more water being used. The more toilets your business has, the higher your water usage will be.

Older sinks can also be a drain. Not only are they more likely to leak, but they also have a higher, less efficient flow.

Updating your fixtures can make a difference. Newer toilets are more efficient and with proper maintenance, can last a long time. For added savings, you could even opt for low-flow fixtures.

Install Water Filtration Systems

Hard water can be harmful to your plumbing lines. High traces of harmful chemicals in your system can lead to corrosion and even find its way into your business's drinking water.

To protect your customers and plumbing system, install a water filtration system. The system can drastically reduce the levels of any harmful chemicals in the water to make it safer. If you are unsure whether or not your business needs a filtration system, you can have the water tested.

As an added measure, you should also consider installing a water softener system. The system will remove harsh substances, such as calcium, and prevent buildup and protect the drinking water.
